"PolyTalk 2018" to take place in Malta in April / Conference will focus on marine litter
PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org) is holding its “PolyTalk” forum (www.polytalk.eu) in St. Julian's / Malta on 26 and 27 April 2018. Taking place at the Mediterranean Sea, the event will focus on one of today’s largest environmental challenges – marine plastics. The conference is for policy and decision makers (international, EU, national, regional), NGOs, designers and members spanning the plastics value chain.
The previous edition of PolyTalk in 2016 had 280 attendees, where ocean plastics were discussed in depth – see Plasteurope.com of 30.03.2016. Presentations this year will include topics on collaborative strategies for the Mediterranean region, scientific perspectives on marine waste, river litter prevention, ports and fisheries practices as well as waste management. The keynote speaker is Karmenu Vella, European commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Other confirmed speakers include Daniele Ferrari (CEO at Versalis and president of PlasticsEurope), François Galgani (project manager and researcher on marine litter at research institute Ifremer; France), Richard Thompson (head of the International Marine Litter Resource Unit, University of Plymouth; UK), Javier Goyeneche (president and founder of sustainable clothing company Ecoalf; Spain) and Karl-H. Foerster (executive director of PlasticsEurope).
