In addition to his post as CEO and president of Huntsman (The Woodlands, Texas / USA; www.huntsman.com), Peter Huntsman has been elected as chairman of the board. His father, company founder Jon Huntsman, has stepped down as executive chairman – a role that no longer exists – and will continue as director and chairman emeritus on the board of directors.
Peter Huntsman takes on the new responsibility in a time when "the company has never been stronger and had more opportunities before it." Recently, the company divested a large portion of its titanium dioxide, pigments and additives unit, Venator Materials (Stockton-on-Tees / UK; www.venatorcorp.com), whose proceeds are to be used to repay debt (see Plasteurope.com of 08.12.2017), and had little luck in the failed merger with Clariant (see Plasteurope.com of 27.10.2017).
