New name for recyclers Van Gansewinkel and Shanks after aquisition
Following the acquisition of recycling company Van Gansewinkel (Eindhoven / The Netherlands; www.vangansewinkelgroep.com) by competitor Shanks (Edinburgh / UK), the two companies have formed a merger known as Renewi (Milton Keynes / UK; www.renewiplc.com).
Renewi collects and processes plastics, paper, metal, glass, wood chips, compost and fuels. According to the company, the Commercial division, its largest, is the market leader for collection and processing of industrial and household waste in the Benelux countries.
Shanks had acquired Van Gansewinkel for EUR 482m in cash and shares at the beginning of 2017. Together, the two companies employ 8,000 people and generate pro forma revenues of around EUR 1.7 bn.
