REGAIN POLYMERS
UK recycler sold to Imerys / Move will help buyer expand Performance Additives activity
Plastics recycling specialist Regain Polymers (Castleford / UK; www.regainpolymers.com) has been bought by industrial group Imerys (Paris / France; www.imerys.com) for an undisclosed sum. In a statement, Imerys, which bought the UK-based business from German private equity firm Aurelius (Munich; www.aureliusinvest.de), said it would leverage the acquisition to expand its Performance Additives division. Aurelius bought Regain Polymers in July 2015 – see Plasteurope.com of 16.07.2015.
Regain avoided going into administration in December last year after agreeing on a voluntary arrangement with creditors. It confirmed a debt settlement deal in return for not being put into administration.
Imerys claims to be the world leader in mineral-based speciality products. The Yorkshire firm’s product range includes recycled polymers such as HDPE, PP, talc-filled PP and PS, as well as other customer-specific plastics. With EUR 4.2 bn revenue and close to 16,000 employees, the company delivers functional solutions to a great number of sectors, from processing industries to consumer goods.
