Daniele Ferrari elected president of European plastics producers association

PlasticsEurope’s (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org) general assembly took place on 1 June in Madrid / Spain, where Versalis (Milan / Italy; www.versalis.eni.com) CEO Daniele Ferrari was elected as the new president of the association. His predecessor, Patrick Thomas, is CEO of Covestro (Leverkusen / Germany; www.covestro.com) and has been president since 2011. Ferrari paid tribute to Thomas for his support in developing the World Plastics Council (WPC, www.worldplasticscouncil.org) – see Plasteurope.com of 25.10.2016 – which unites plastics industry leaders from around the world to address the global issues faced by the plastics industry.
Ferrari has more than 25 years of experience in the chemical industry. He has worked for Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and Huntsman (The Woodlands, Texas / USA; www.huntsman.com) in several managerial positions. In 2012, he was appointed CEO of Versalis and chairman of Matrìca, the 50:50 joint venture on renewable chemistry with Novamont (Novara / Italy; www.novamont.com).
