David Hummel to retire / Jakob Sigurdsson steps in as CEO

After almost 24 years as CEO of Victrex (Thornton Cleveleys / UK; www.victrex.com), David Hummel will retire at the end of March 2018. His designated successor is Jakob Sigurdsson, who was the CEO of Promens until 2015 and previously held several management positions, including at Rohm & Haas and Alfesca. The Icelander will assume the CEO position on 1 September 2017, while Hummel will remain executive director during the transitional phase.
Under Hummel's leadership, the global PEEK producer has opened up new markets and applications for high-performance polymers. Sales rose from GBP 31m (around EUR 36m) in 1995 to over GBP 250m in 2016, while earnings per share (EPS) averaged more than 10% per year.
