Swedish industrial group Trelleborg (Trelleborg; www.trelleborg.com) inaugurated its polyurethane manufacturing facility in Redford / UK. Four UK sites; one in Retford, two in Coventry and one in Knaresborough, are consolidated into a single facility. It is 7,225 m2 and was constructed using lean manufacturing principles and with a focus on environmental efficiency.
The Trelleborg Group had sales of SEK 27 bn (EUR 2.86 bn) in 2016, a 9% increase compared to the previous year that was mainly driving by acquisitions, including the elastomer processor ČGS Holding (Prague / Czech Republic; www.cgs.eu) – see Plasteurope.com of 06.06.2016. The group reported that organic sales declined by 5%, EBIT increased by 9% to SEK 3.7 bn.
Their industrial sector is the largest, which accounts for about a third of sales. Jean-Paul Mindermann will be the new business area president at the Trelleborg Group, and his predecessor Mikael Fryklund will take over as CEO of TPE compounder and processor Hexpol (Malmö / Sweden; www.hexpol.com) in the middle of the year.
