Following the merger of Newell Rubbermaid (Atlanta, Georgia / USA) and Jarden Corporation (Boca Raton, Florida / USA) to create Newell Brands (Hoboken, New Jersey / USA; www.newellbrands.com) in December 2016 (see Plasteurope.com of 16.12.2015), the new company has continued to take steps to simplify and strengthen is portfolio through a series of acquisitions and disposals.

Included in this is the sale of its “Rubbermaid” consumer storage crates and totes business to injection and blow moulder United Solutions (Leominster, Massachusetts / USA; www.unitedsolutions-plastics.com). As part of the terms of the sale, the companies will enter a five-year licensing agreement for use of the “Rubbermaid” brand name. The business records around USD 70m in sales annually. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
