GP MATERIALS
New US polymer distributor / Focus on small- and medium-sized plastics processors
Two US plastics industry veterans on 15 October set up a new distributor, aimed at offering support to small- and medium-sized processors. General Polymers Thermoplastic Materials (GP Materials, Clarkston, Michigan / USA; www.gp-materials.com) has a portfolio that spans a range of materials, from polyamide to polyester, PC, PE, PP, PS, compounds, TPU and elastomers, produced by a number of key industry players like Sabic, KEP, Asahi Kasei Plastics, Lotte and Radici, among others.
The distributor, whose reach currently spans over a third of the US, is headed by Gregory Boston and Michael Kirtley. Boston’s career included stints at Ashland, Ems-Grivory and Asahi Kasei, while Kirtley used to work at Spartan Polymers, Ostermann and Delta Polymers.
Initially, GP Materials was supposed to have a regional focus on the Midwest, but the company’s activities now extend to other areas of the US and Canada and it is said to be “well on its way to national coverage.”
