TPV compounds launched with excellent PA adhesion properties / Ideal for automotive applications
Plastics distribution and compounding company Albis Plastic (Hamburg / Germany; www.albis.com) has expanded its portfolio with the addition of “Alfaterxl”, a new range of PA adhesion-modified thermoplastic vulcanisate (TPV) compounds.
Alfaterxl is a blend of a PP matrix with a finely dispersed, fully cross-linked EPDM phase. Resistant to weather, ozone, aqueous solutions, acids and alkaline media, this grade of TPV can be used in a wide range of temperatures – from -40 °C to +130 °C. With a very light natural appearance, the compounds can be easily coloured, even with bright colours.
Albis said numerous tests conducted with Germany’s SKZ Würzburg technical centre have shown that Alfaterxl compounds have excellent adhesion to PA 6 and PA 6.6.
The material is suitable for making “hard-soft” components in various sectors, such as the automotive and electrical & electronic industries. Thanks to its high temperature resistance, the TPV grades are said to be ideal for automotive under-the-hood applications such as seals, covers and cable ducts. Given its low emission and low fogging properties, the Alfaterxl range also meets requirements for interior automotive parts and housing components.
