IPL integration generates surge in sales / Irish injection moulder wants to expand further
One51 plc (Dublin / Ireland; www.one51.com) has seen a large surge in sales and profit during the first half of 2016 after its acquisition of IPL (Saint Damien / Canada; www.ipl-plastics.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 15.07.2015. Turnover increased by 51% in comparison with the previous year, to EUR 214m, the company said. EBITDA even more than doubled to EUR 27.2m while the net result for this period decreased by 62% to EUR 8.9m.
“We have successfully integrated IPL into our plastics division”, said CEO Alan Walsh. “The division returned very compelling results in the first half of the year and has grown stronger than expected. Profit from our UK operations were negatively affected by the Brexit outcome and the resulting devaluation of the British pound. Other possible effects of the Brexit are hard to predict at the moment.” He added that the second half of the year, which apparently started quite well, would further clear up things. Since January, One51 has strengthened its environmental activities through two takeovers in the UK.
IPL’s “Plastics” unit generated EUR 94.6m in sales and an EBITDA of EUR 15.6m. The injection moulding group One Plastics Group (www.oneplastics.com) increased sales by 1% to EUR 67.4m during the reporting period while EBITDA fell by 10% to EUR 9.8m due to negative currency influences. For the second half of the year, One51 has plans for “another significant investment” into its plastics division.
