Automotive OEM supplier Mecaplast (Monaco; www.mecaplast.com) is planning to build a new 10,000 m² injection moulding plant at Kenitra / Morocco, some 40 km north of the country’s capital Rabat. As CEO Pierre Boulet told Plasteurope.com, the company intends to invest EUR 25-30m at the new 50,000 m² site. Construction is due to begin at the end of 2016, with completion expected a year later. Initially, the company will produce plastic parts for the nearby Peugeot Citroën PSA assembly plant, but there are also ongoing talks with Renault about supplying the latter’s plant at Tangier / Morocco.

In addition to the injection moulding facility, Mecaplast will also invest in a 2,000 m² automotive paint shop with a projected workforce of 200-300 employees at the final stage. According to Boulet, the overall investment will generate sales of around EUR 30m annually. For 2016, he expects revenues of approximately EUR 738m, up slightly versus the previous year's sales of EUR 734m.
