RPC
Purchase of UK flexible PE film producer BPI wrapped up / Total group sales now exceed GBP 2.5 bn
Rigid plastic packaging producer RPC (Rushden / UK; www.rpc-group.com) in early August completed its GBP 261m acquisition of flexible PE film producer British Polythene Industries (BPI, Greenock / UK; www.bpipoly.com). The deal was first announced in June this year (see Plasteurope.com of 10.06.2016).
BPI will form a sixth division within RPC, and brings with it 19 production plants in Europe and North America, as well as about 2,000 employees. With its addition, RPC’s sales will exceed GBP 2.5 bn, and the group will have a total global workforce of more than 20,000, spread across 29 different countries and 140 separate sites.
For RPC, the purchase marks the latest step in its “Vision 2020” strategy, and gives it access to the European polythene films market, thereby creating a new growth platform for the group, which has been on an extensive acquisition spree in the past few years (Plasteurope.com has reported extensively).
