Acquisition of Dutch additives producer Addcomp / Business to be integrated into BYK Additives & Instruments
German speciality chemicals group Altana (Wesel; www.altana.com) has acquired additives producer Addcomp Holland (Nijverdal / The Netherlands; www.addcomp.nl). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The business will be integrated into the plastic additives line of Altana’s subsidiary, BYK Additives & Instruments (Wesel / Germany; www.byk.com).
Stephan Glander, president of BYK Additives & Instruments, said: “The acquisition is an ideal fit for BYK. The combination of BYK’s chemical and product expertise together with Addcomp’s unique process technology will enable us to develop and manufacture new and differentiating additives for the Thermoplastic market.”
The acquisition adds a broad range of additive solutions with different functionalities, such as antifogging, improved processing, flame retardancy, heat stabilisation and UV stabilisation to BYK’s portfolio. Addcomp is a specialist in applying masterbatch technology to achieve high dispersion, to simplify handling of difficult additives such as liquids and viscous materials, and to provide the highest additive concentrations. The company has 45 employees and operates production facilities and sales offices in Nijverdal and in Rochester Hills, Michigan / USA.
