JOKEY
Modernising production and logistics facilities in France
Plastics packaging and technical parts producer Jokey (Wipperfürth / Germany; www.jokey.de) is investing an undisclosed amount in the expansion and modernisation of its plant in Labourse / France. Its Jokey France subsidiary will build a fully automated high rack warehouse, offering 3,500 m² of space for about 7,000 pallets. Construction is expected to be completed this year. The larger storage capacity will not only shorten delivery times, but also opens up more room for production. The French subsidiary’s managing director, Marcus Blumenschein, said the group plans to install additional injection moulding machines, aimed at meeting rising demand.
The modernisation efforts in Labourse began in 2015, when the company converted and upgraded its administrative building. The new measures introduced at the site include the reuse of the cooling water employed in the production area as a heating source for the offices.
The modernisation in France follows Jokey’s decision last year to expand its plant in Blachownia / Poland and the commissioning of a new facility in Ulyanovsk / Russia.
