Fishing container rental service iTUB AS (Alesund / Norway; www.itub-rental.com), which is majority owned by RPC (Rushden / UK; www.rpc-group.com), has acquired the tub rental service of Danish company Dansk Karudlejning (Esbjerg; www.karudlejning.dk). RPC said the deal will support iTUB's objective of continuing to expand its operations throughout Europe.
iTUB was established in 2010 by RPC Sæplast and three Norwegian seafood companies – Aker Seafoods, Nergard and Batsfjordbruket. It provides a fish tub leasing service to fishing and processing companies, and has 20,000 tubs in circulation as well as distribution and washing stations in the UK, France and Denmark. The tubs are made of food-grade PE, and have rounded edges and surfaces for optimum wash-down.
"Our service has proved extremely popular and we see great opportunities to further extend our offering to other countries," said iTUB MD Hilmar Gudmundsson. "The acquisition of Dansk Karudlejning is an important step in the continued development of our distribution and transport network."
