LINPAC
British packager invests in expansion and modernisation of Spanish plant / Total revamp
Over the course of the next three years, Linpac (Featherstone / UK; www.linpac.com) will invest more than EUR 14m in expanding and modernising its plant in Pravia, northwestern Spain. Regional media report that this year alone, EUR 4.5m will be sunk into the facility. All in all, about EUR 8m will go towards lifting capacity, with other measures related to the automation of existing lines and the development of new products.
The Pravia plant is home to more than 400 employees. Its sales of about EUR 80m are generated mostly by plastic containers for fresh, conserved and frozen foodstuffs. Reports indicate that it is these particular fields where activities are to be strengthened. Aside from that, the plant also produces plastic bags and aluminium cans.
Linpac operates a network of global plants manufacturing thermoformed packaging and packaging film for fresh and frozen foods. Its 2,500 employees are spread across nine countries, while its output is sold in more than 70. Since the appointment of new CEO Daniel Dayan (see Plasteurope.com of 15.04.2015), Linpac has been undergoing a complete restructuring. The company is also raising output in the UK and Australia, while its Italian facility producing its "Infia" range of fruit packaging is being modernised, too.
