Injection mouldinger Spang & Brands (Friedrichsdorf / Germany; www.spang-brands.de), specialised on medical applications, has developed a safety packaging called "Composite Unit Dose" (CUD) for use in dental medicine. The primary packaging, made of PBT and TPE in cooperation with medical application systems specialist Pheneo (Bremen / Germany; www.pheneo.com), is designed for composite tooth fillings. The packaging is sealed with a tamper-evident and non-reclosable latch, which gives off a clearly audible click when first opened. According to Spang & Brands, this will assure one-time use and promote hygienic conditions for dental treatment. The packaging with a net weight of 0.5 g is being produced in a multi-component process.
Spang & Brands manufactures, among other medical applications, syringes, needles and implant components. It uses both single- and multi-component injection moulding processes. Pheneo develops medical application and packaging solutions for dental, human and veterinary medicine.
