Five glass fibre-reinforced grades added to “Amodel” PPA range
Solvay Specialty Polymers (Alpharetta, Georgia / USA; www.solvayspecialtypolymers.com) has expanded its “Amodel” AE-8900 range for automotive electronics applications through the addition of five glass fibre-reinforced grades with glass filler content ranging from 30% to 60%.
The PPA materials provide high voltage resistance and retention of dielectric properties at elevated temperatures, and performance beyond the company’s existing AE-1100 and AE-4100 series by delivering greater resistance to automotive fluids, enhanced thermal properties, higher mechanical strength and crack resistance as well as lower moisture absorption, the company said. The materials offer comparative tracking index (CTI) values in excess of 600 V with improved resistance to electrical breakdown of the insulating material, eliminating the possible shorting out or cross-talk between sensitive electrical contacts.
