Introducing “Divinycell HM” composite foam / “Toughest core ever” for marine hulls
Structural core materials producer Diab (Laholm / Sweden; www.diabgroup.com) has expanded its “Divinycell” range of composite foams with the addition of “Divinycell HM”, what it calls its “toughest core ever.” The new material is capable of absorbing extremely high dynamic loads, such as slamming on waves, making it particularly suitable for marine hulls.
Aside from enabling what Diab called ultra-tough and robust structures, use of Divinycell HM also reduces weight, which in turn results in better performance in terms of speed, range and payload. The material combines outstanding shear elongation with impressive shear strength said Diab global marine manager Valerio Corniani, adding that it has been approved for slamming use by Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyds (Høvik / Norway; www.dnvgl.com).
