Purchase of Spanish pigments producer Nubiola wrapped up / Future investments planned
Ferro (Cleveland, Ohio / USA; www.ferro.com) has completed its acquisition of speciality inorganic pigments producer Nubiola Pigmentos (Barcelona / Spain; www.nubiola.com) – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 07.05.2015. The group paid EUR 149m for the Spanish company, which is the world’s largest manufacturer of “Ultramarine Blue”.
Following the takeover, Nubiola will continue to operate under its own name, co-branded with Ferro. The company’s 750 employees are spread across production facilities in Spain, Colombia, Romania and India, and it also operates a joint venture in China. Commenting on the deal, Ferro CEO Peter Thomas said, “We intend to invest in R&D and product development programmes to further enhance Nubiola’s market position as an innovation leader.”
