Performance Chemicals business successfully spun off as The Chemours Company
On 1 July DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dupont.com) completed the spin-off of its Performance Chemicals division. The unit now operates independently as The Chemours Company (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.chemours.com), comprising titanium technologies, fluoroproducts and chemical solutions activities – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 22.12.2014.
Following its launch, Chemours, which is headed by CEO Mark Vergnano, will focus on optimising its asset base, increasing cash flow and allocating capital strategically. The company’s Titanium Technologies business is managed by Bryan Snell, while Fluoroproducts are overseen by Thierry Vanlancker and Chris Siemer is in charge of Chemical Solutions.
Commenting on the spin-off, DuPont CEO Ellen Kullman said, “Today’s successful spin-off advances DuPont’s transformation to a higher growth, higher value, global science and innovation company.” The US company first announced its intention to carve out its Performance Chemicals business in late 2013 – see Plasteurope.com of 01.11.2013.
