MOULDING EXPO
560 exhibitors expected at first edition of the international tool fair in Stuttgart in early May
It looks like the widespread support from key industry associations has borne fruit. To date, 560 exhibitors have signed up for the first edition of “Moulding Expo – The International Trade Fair for Tool, Pattern and Mould Making” (www.moulding-expo.de), held at Landesmesse Stuttgart (Stuttgart / Germany; www.messe-stuttgart.de) from 5-8 May (for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 16.10.2014). And the fair organiser continues to receive new applications each day, Landesmesse Stuttgart managing director Ulrich Kromer von Baerle said at a recent press conference ahead of the fair’s debut. About one third of the exhibitors who have registered to date are specialised in tool and mould manufacture, Kromer added.
The figures have brightened the mood at the associations involved in the fair – the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers VDWF, the federal mould and tool association Bundesverband Modell- und Formenbau (MF), the German association for plastics and rubber machinery VDMA and – last but not least – the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW). It seems like each group has done its utmost advertising the event, “developed with the industry for the industry”.
VDWF marketing head Ralf Dürrwächter said the association’s common booth for its members counts 52 exhibitors – a figure not seen in any other fair, where the highest number of participants lies at about 20. VDW plans to use the Moulding Expo, which will be held in odd years, to cater to the south German market, while doing the same in northern Germany in even years at the “Metav” fair, VDW’s economic head Gerhard Hein said.
The fact that the press conference was extremely well attended further testifies to the huge interest in the fair. The one thing that is still missing from the equation is visitor numbers. However, judging by the existing experience, the organisers have little to worry about. The professionally organised event, focused on the German tool and mould sector, is likely to be well attended. It is quite likely that the presence of key players in this sector at one location will also draw numerous plastics processors and end users to Stuttgart in May.
