INEOS / DOEFLEX
European Commission gives go-ahead to PVC compounding merger
The European Commission has given its unconditional clearance to the merger of the PVC compounding businesses of Ineos Compounds, part of the Ineos group (Rolle / Switzerland; www.ineos.com), and Doeflex Compounding (Swindon / UK; www.doeflex.co.uk) – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 23.05.2014. First announced in May, the deal is expected to be completed by 1 September, the companies said.
The merger “presents a strategic growth opportunity for both parties”, Ineos and Doeflex said, adding that it is “highly complementary to their growth strategy.” The merged business, which will be run by an integrated management team from both companies and operate as Ineos Compounds, will have turnover of more than EUR 200m and manufacturing sites in the UK, Sweden and Switzerland.
The combination of the two players’ PVC compounding activities is just the latest in a string of changes in the European PVC market – for a detailed overview of recent developments, see Plasteurope.com of 29.07.2014.
