Merges with DaniMer Scientific to attract partners / Move will broaden service offering and enhance efficiency
US biopolymer companies Meredian (Bainbridge, Georgia; www.meredianpha.com) and DaniMer Scientific (Bainbridge, Georgia; www.danimer.com) have merged under wholly-owned subsidiary Meredian Holdings Group in order to attract strategic partners. Both boards believed the restructure would increase the size and market awareness of the two companies, making the combined entity more attractive and enabling the provision of a broader range of services to customers as well as enhancing efficiency and sharing resources.
Paul Pereira, executive chairman to the board of directors to both Meredian and DaniMer Scientific and CEO, said: “This has been a milestone achievement and we are convinced that this move will put these companies in a very strong position with revenues and profits as they move forward in the bioplastics industry.”
In April this year, Meredian achieved pilot production of its PHA formulation process with UK-based food ingredients producer Tate & Lyle (London; www.tateandlyle.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 05.05.2014. The process has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA, Washington, DC; www.fda.gov) for food contact applications.
