“Oleflex” technology selected for China propylene project
Chinese petrochemicals producer Guangdong Peng Zun Energy Development Co plans to build a 450,000 t/y propylene plant in Donghai Island Port Chemical Industrial Zone in Zhanjiang / China. The propane dehydrogenation plant will be based on “Oleflex” technology supplied by Honeywell (Morris Township, New Jersey / USA; www.honeywell.com) subsidiary UOP (Des Plaines, Illinois / USA; www.uop.com). In addition to technology, UOP will provide training, technical services, catalysts, adsorbents and equipment for the project. Start-up is scheduled for 2016, Honeywell said.
China’s demand for propylene is expected to more than triple by 2020 from 2011 levels, said Pete Piotrowski, senior vice president and general manager of UOP’s process technology and equipment business.
Earlier this year, UOP licensed Oleflex to Ningbo Fortune Petrochemical (Ningbo City / China), which plans to commission a 600,000 t/y propylene plant in 2016 – for details, see Plasteurope.com of 21.02.2014.
