Acquisition of Italian speciality chemicals distributor Pietro Carini / “Solid base for further growth”
German distributor Krahn Chemie (Hamburg; www.krahn.de/en) is continuing its growth strategy in Europe by acquiring Italian speciality chemicals distributor Pietro Carini (Milan; www.carini.it). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1868, Pietro Carini has 27 employees and more than 1,000 customers. The Milan-based company distributes speciality chemicals for the plastics, rubber, adhesives, sealants, inks and coatings industries. Its product portfolio includes materials from ExxonMobil, Ineos, Eastman, Cytec and Lucite, among others.

Krahn Chemie managing director Axel Sebbesse called the acquisition a “strategic fit”, adding that, “Pietro Carini provides us with a strong regional footprint and with a solid basis for further growth in the highly attractive Italian market.” Following the purchase, Pietro Carini’s management board will consist of Sebbesse, the Italian group’s managing director and shareholder Enrico Bozzi as well as head of Operations & Quality Emanuela Bozzi.
