Filing of open request phase settlement / Liquidation proceedings commence
The long saga of La Seda de Barcelona’s (LSB, Barcelona / Spain; www.laseda.es) insolvency proceedings has begun a new chapter – Plasteurope.com has been reporting extensively and most recently in Plasteurope.com of 02.12.2013. On 3 January, the board of directors' chairman, Carlos Moreira da Silva, announced the company had filed for an open request phase settlement in accordance with its voluntary bankruptcy and pursuant to Article 142.1 of the country’s bankruptcy law.
He added the decision by LSB to commence liquidation proceedings was the “best way” to protect its asset value and to facilitate an orderly sales process that ensures continuity. Da Silva said the company had received several expressions of interest and offers.
