UK plastic parts manufacturer, Plastek (Mansfield; www.plastekuk.com), has purchased three new injection moulding machines in direct response to winning new business.
A “significant investment” has been made in the Ferromatik machines, one of which features the latest stack turning cube mould technology. Plastek said this particular machine allows it to increase production capacity as there are twice as many cavities in the mould. In addition, it enables moulding machines to be used with half the clamping force to produce the same quantity of parts, giving lower capital costs, parts costs and cycle times. “This is exactly the sort of process innovation our customers are looking for,” said general manager Mick Shaw.
The plastic converter has trebled its production capacity since 1999, with eight new machines being installed since 2010.
