FLEXTRONICS
Expansion of medical capabilities with Swiss moulder acquisition / European centre of excellence for precision plastics
End-to-end supply chain solutions provider Flextronics (Singapore; www.flextronics.com) has purchased family-owned Riwisa (Hägglingen / Switzerland; www.riwisa.ch) for an undisclosed sum. The deal is now subject to approval by the respective regulatory authorities.
Once finalised, which is expected to happen by the end of October, Flextronics will take over all of the company's injection moulding and high-speed automation assets, facilities and entire personnel – approximately 300 individuals. The newly acquired company will not only broaden Flextronics' turnkey offerings reach in general, but specifically in the area of medical technology products manufacturing. The plan calls for the 67-year-old Swiss company to become a "European Centre of Excellence" for precision plastics with Riwisa aligning within the company's Medical business group.

"We believe we will create the best outcome for a successful future of the company and its employees in Switzerland," stated Peter Richner, presiden of the board of directors at Riwisa. By becoming part of a large global corporation, the Swiss company now has access to global network of players and can ensure future growth.
