POLYPLASTICS
Velox to be distributor of engineering plastics in Europe
German chemicals distributor Velox (Hamburg; www.velox.com) has signed a deal with Polyplastics (Tokyo / Japan; www.polyplastics.com) – the joint venture with German Ticona (Sulzbach; www.ticona.com) (45%) and Japan's Daicel Chemical Industries (Osaka; www.daicel.com) (55%) – to distribute three engineering plastics products in Europe. The deal involves "Duracon" POM, "Duranex" PBT and "Durafide" PPS. Velox is responsible for developing the European market, including the UK and Turkey.
Duracon POM is a general-purpose engineering polymer with applications in mechanical and automotive components. The main uses for Duranex PBT are automotive wire harness connectors, auto sensors and electronic parts. Durafide is a new type of PPS with superior heat-, flame- and chemical resistance, according to Polyplastics. Its main applications are in advanced electronic parts, automotive components, chemical equipment, and hot-water supply equipment.
Ticona ceased distribution in July 2012 of Polyplastic grades in Europe and the US – see Plasteurope.com from 20.07.2012. Just last month in June, Polyplastics launched a new LCP – see Plasteurope.com from 10.06.2013.
