Conference organisers were Adsale (Hong Kong; www.adsale.com.hk), CPRJ (China Plastic & Rubber Journal) and PIE – Plastics Information Europe as well as the German sister publication KI – Kunststoff Information. In the morning, a general forum opened the conference focusing on global industry trends and the market situation.
In the afternoon, two separate forums were run concurrently on specific topics; one discussed OEM partnership in China and abroad, while the other provided an overview of how environmentally sound plastics packaging solutions were developing in China.
In his keynote speech, Stanley Chu, chairman of Chinaplas organiser Adsale, stressed that OEM enterprises are important to improve product quality and enhance production efficiency in China. In addition, he added that green materials and packaging are crucial to sustainable development.
Perhaps the atmosphere for the conference was best summed up in the words of one participant: “The event was an ideal platform for an informative exchange of expertise and knowledge among Europeans and Chinese industry professionals.”
Zheng Kai, secretary General of the national plastics organisation China Synthetic Resin Supply and Sale Association (CSRA), elaborated on the applications of high-end plastics providing some practical examples. He also spoke about the increasing importance of technical plastics and high-performance polymers in China.
The presentations given by PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org) and by the German plastics and rubber machinery association VDMA (http://kug.vdma.org) were particularly very well-received by Chinese participants.
