Istanbul / Turkey will be the host for the upcoming Turkish Plastics Industry Congress on 4 December 2013. The Turkish plastics industry foundation Pagev (Istanbul; www.pagev.org.tr) is hosting the one-day event, which will have as its focus, “Plastic Applications for Food Industry”.

The programme concentrates on the benefits of using plastics in food packaging as well as the latest technological developments in this sector. Presentation topics cover a variety of important industry aspect such as innovative food packaging solutions, smart packaging, barrier materials and shelf-life stability, global trends in film production machinery, packaging as a waste preventer as well as investment potential for the food packaging industry in developing countries.

The Turkish plastics industry with a first-quarter performance of 2.2m t of plastic products produced in the country, has become Europe’s second-largest plastic consumption site.
