VERSALIS
JV for renewable butadiene is finalised
Versalis (Milan / Italy; www.polimerieuropa.com) and US-based Genomatica (San Diego, California; www.genomatica.com), a leading developer of process technology for renewable chemicals, have signed a “definitive” agreement establishing their planned joint venture for production of butadiene from non-food biomass feedstocks – see Plasteurope.com of 26.07.2012.

The cooperation encompasses the development of a complete “end-to-end” process, which will be licensed across Europe, Asia and Africa. Future licensees, including Versalis, formerly known as Polimeri Europa, will finance construction and operation of their own plants and handle application and sale of the butadiene produced.
