Majority share in India's Parikh Packaging purchased / Latest global expansion / Raising output in the US
Continuing on its acquisition spree, Austrian flexible packaging producer Constantia Flexibles (Vienna; www.cflex.com) in early April acquired 60% of the shares in Parikh Packaging (Ahmedabad / India; www.parikhpackaging.com). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The remaining 40% of the shares in the group – serving the food, health, personal care and non-food industries – will remain in the hands of the Parikh family. Constantia said the transaction still needs to receive the approval of the relevant authorities.
Commenting on the purchase, Constantia Flexibles CEO Thomas Unger said, “With this acquisition we are operating in a highly attractive growth market. India has an ever increasing middle class with growing demand for packaged food and health care products, which we want to address with top quality products and services.”
Meanwhile, in the US subsidiary Constantia Hueck Foils is busy expanding its operations in Blythewood, South Carolina. According to a report from the local area development council, the film manufacturer is investing US 12m to raise output at the site. The measure will result in the creation of 15 new jobs.
