New PET plant to be located in Alabama / USD 190m investment
The search for a location for its new North American PET plant is over – see also Plasteurope.com of 19.11.2012. In late March 2013, Alabama governor Robert Bentley announced that Indorama Ventures (Bangkok / Thailand; www.indoramaventures.com) has decided to locate its new 500,000 t/y facility next to its existing plant in Decatur, Alabama / USA. Construction of the USD 190m plant is due to commence this year, with commissioning scheduled for Q4 2015.
A look at Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe capacity database (www.polyglobe.net) shows that Indorama subsidiary AlphaPet already operates a 432,000 t/y PET plant in Decatur, fed by PTA produced at a nearby site by BP (London / UK; www.bp.com).
