Expanding Finnish drug delivery systems manufacturing plant / Workforce level to be raised by 15%
Driven by new opportunities and rising customer demand, Phillips-Medisize (Hudson, Wisconsin / USA; www.phillipsplastics.com) recently announced a 6,000 m2 expansion of its site in Kontiolahti / Finland. The US company produces complex drug delivery systems, including inhalers, injection pins and safety syringes at the plant. The added floor space will increase the site’s moulding and assembly capacities and is due to come on stream in August this year. In addition to the added space, the company also plans to hire about 50 new staff members in the coming two years, to support the site’s existing workforce of 336.

At the end of last year the US company enlarged its production plant in Trhove Sviny / Czech Republic – see Plasteurope.com of 27.11.2012. About 75% of group annual sales of USD 500m are generated by drug delivery, medical device and diagnostic products. Phillips Medisize employs 2,100 people across 12 sites in the US, Europe and China.
