Expansion of PA compounding capacity with new Coperion line
Turkish compounding company Epsan Plastic (Bursa; www.epsan.com.tr/english) plans to increase its PA compounding capacity in Bursa by 7,000 t/y by installing a new extrusion line supplied by Coperion (Stuttgart / Germany; www.coperion.com).
The new Coperion ZSK 58 Mc18 twin screw extruder line will raise Epsan’s PA compounding capacity to 22,000 t/y. Epsan, which already has four Coperion compounding lines, distributes PA 6 and 6.6 compounds to Europe and North Africa under the “Eplamid” and “Eplon” brand names. “The capacity increase will help Epsan to focus more on fast growing Asian markets as well as strengthen our position in existing ones,” said global sales director Arda Efe.
Coperion is now owned by US-based Hillenbrand (Batesville, Indiana; www.hillenbrandinc.com). The acquisition, which was announced in October – see Plasteurope.com of 18.10.2012 – was completed in December 2012. Hillenbrand values the acquisition at approximately EUR 419m, including EUR 87m of debt and EUR 100m in pension liabilities.
