On 6 and 7 November 2012, the China National Convention Centre in Beijing will host the “8th China Plastics Recycling Exhibition & Conference”, more commonly known as “ChinaReplas” (http://2012.replas.org.cn). The focus of the biannual event – with the conference title "Change Road of Scrap Plastics Industry in Crises" –, held last shortly before “ChinaPlas” (see Plasteurope.com of 11.06.2012) is the changing policy landscape for scrap plastic exports to China. Recently scrap plastics prices in China have fallen deeply with serious shrinked trading volume. On one hand the Chinese government has issued more and more policies to strengthen industry supervision, on the other hand, the industry itself faces inner problems such as inversion of prices between Chinese and foreign markets, increase of labor cost, price fluctuation, operating cost keeping high, aggravation of instability for management or weak profitablity. So the Chinese scrap plastics industry is full of crises now, the organisers say.

The event is co-organised by the China Scrap Plastics Association and the China Scrap Plastics Magazine (Beijing) and enjoys the support of the government, including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine as well as the General Administration of Customs.

Aside from the policy aspect, the conference will put a special emphasis on face-to-face encounters, allowing for direct communication between scrap plastic sellers and buyers.
