SCHUR FLEXIBLES
Majority share in Germany's Flexofol Verpackungen acquired / Planning additional expansion in Europe
Austria’s Schur Flexibles (Baden; www.schur.com) has acquired a majority share in Flexofol Verpackungen (Kempten / Germany; www.flexofol.de). Following the purchase, the latter’s two managing directors Peter Alber and Andreas Schneider, will continue to head up the film manufacturer and remain active as shareholders. Schur emphasized that Flexofol would maintain its existing market focus as a manufacturer of high-quality surface film for thermoforming and bags for cheese and meat products. Flexofol employs 65 workers at its headquarters in Kempten.
Schur Flexibles also operates a plant in Kempten. CFS-Dixie Flexibles manufactures high-barrier packaging for cheese and meat products. The plant used to operate as CFS Kempten but was acquired by a holding of Conflex Packaging last year and then integrated into the newly founded Schur Flexibles Holding.
Schur says the main goal of its latest acquisition is to expand its product portfolio. The Austrian group, which posted sales of EUR 150m, now operates six plants located in Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands and Poland. The transaction, financial details of which were not disclosed, still has to meet the approval of the German regulatory authorities. Schur said it plans to launch additional purchases in Europe, with a special focus on applications for the foodstuff, animal feed, tobacco, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.
