Nordenia USA (Jackson, Missouri) – part of German high-quality films and packaging specialist Nordenia International (Greven; www.nordenia.com) has opened a second plant in Missouri / USA. The 17,000m² building, located in Hubble Creek, will house a competence centre for pre-made packaging, Nordenia said. The total investment for the expansion, which includes a new Totani bag making machine that has already been installed as well as new production lines and printing presses, totals EUR 3.5m. The US group said the investment will create more than 50 new positions. The new facility complements Nordenia USA's existing plant in Indian Creek, Missouri.

The Missouri businesses post the second-highest sales in the Nordenia Group, accounting for 45% of revenues generated by hygiene products as well as 25% each for the food and petcare as well as the garden end markets. Nordenia USA said the Hubble Creek facility will focus on the latter two product lines.

Not only does the plant form a central basis for the business' future growth, it also allows the group to centralise pre-made packaging, "which is a very important branch of our business,” said Nordenia USA managing director Reinhold Franke. "The expansion of our American site is a central element of our group strategy,” confirms Nordenia International CEO Ralph Landwehr.
