Swiss packaging group streamlines blown film production / Plans to gradually cut down workforce
In merging its Flexoprint and Laminating business units at its site in Andwil / Switzerland, PetroplastVinora (Andwil; www.petroplastvinora.ch) hopes to streamline production. The company called the move a first step in the concentration of its activities this year. PetroplastVinora said it would follow up the move with the establishment of a blown film extrusion competence centre in Jona / Switzerland. The CHF 15m (EUR 12.5m) project includes the move to the new site as well as the modernisation of both infrastructure and equipment.
At the same time, the Andwil-based company says it continues to “analyse and optimise” its existing business processes, including the downsizing of 35 jobs. PetroplastVinora said it has a social plan in place for the affected employees.

The company hopes to complete the optimisation works, which include a simplified employee training plan, without any production outages and while maintaining a steady output. PetroplastVinora says it is Switzerland’s market leader for tailor-made flexible packaging solutions. The group, which employs 400 workers, processes mostly polyethylene but also alternative feedstocks.
