Stake in BOPP producer Biaxplen increased to 100%
Russian chemical giant Sibur (Moscow; www.sibur.com) has taken full ownership of local BOPP producer Biaxplen (Moscow; http://eng.biaxplen.ru) by acquiring the 50% stake it did not already own. Sibur, which acquired the initial 50% stake in 2009, said it has completed the transaction and is now the sole owner.
Biaxplen has three production plants, located in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk and Moscow regions. In addition to Biaxplen, Sibur said it owns a similar enterprise, Biaxplen-NK (Novokuybyshevsk, Samara / Russia), which will now become part of the Biaxplen group.
Last year, Biaxplen and Biaxplen-NK together produced more than 128,000 t of films and purchased more than 65,000 t of PP from Sibur.
