Israel Chemicals Ltd (ICL, Tel-Aviv / Israel; www.icl-group.com) has selected technology from Dow Global Technologies for its new FR122P brominated polymeric flame retardants. The products are designed for use by the building industry in extruded polystyrene (XPS) and expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam insulation products, and are expected to become available in commercial quantities in early 2014. Pilot quantities are currently available as required by customers, ICL said.
The FR122P flame retardants “conform to ever-higher standards of sustainability, quality, performance and safety,” stated Ilan Elkan, ICL-IP's vice president for flame retardants. “We have already begun work on our new 10,000 t/y capacity manufacturing plant.”
ICL business Industrial Products has signed a licensing agreement with Dow Global Technologies, a Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) subsidiary, to use the technology.
