METYX COMPOSITES
Reinforcing fabric producer building second plant in Turkey / Output earmarked for wind energy sector
At the end of January 2012 Metyx Composites (Istanbul / Turkey; www.metyx.com) plans to commission its new reinforcing fabrics plant, located in the vicinity of Izmir. Reports indicate that the subsidiary of textile manufacturer Telateks (Istanbul / Turkey; www.telateks.com) invested a total of EUR 5m in new buildings and facilities, and plans to inject another EUR 8.5m over the next five years in the industrial park.

Metyx manufactures multiaxial reinforcements made of glass and carbon fibres for the composites sector. Production at the new site, measuring half the main plant in Istanbul at 12,500 m2, will focus on the wind energy market, which is expected to see significant regional growth in the coming years. Metyx also distributes a range of composites products in Turkey, including 3B Fibreglass’ (Battice / Belgium; www.3b-fibreglass.com) “Advantex” chopped strand mats.
