New black masterbatch plant in China is inaugurated
In the second week of September 2011, US specialty chemicals producer Cabot Corporation (Boston, Massachusetts; www.cabot-corp.com) held the official opening ceremony for its new 45,000 t/y black masterbatch plant in Tianjin / China – see also Plasteurope.com of 14.02.2011. The USD 20m plant is a joint venture with Shanghai Coking and Chemical Corporation, a subsidiary of Shanghai Huayi Group Company (Shanghai / China; www.shhuayi.com).
The new facility reportedly boasts the latest environmental and manufacturing technologies, with the option of raising output to 80,000 t/y. It will supply a wide range of industries, including the automotive sector.
