Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group is latest Chinese player to adopt “Innovene” PP process
Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group (Yinchuan, Ningxia / China; www.baofengenergy.com/index.asp) is the latest Chinese polypropylene player to select Ineos Technologies’ (Lyndhurst / UK; www.ineos.com) proprietary “Innovene” PP process for its 300,000 t/y plant. The announcement came just days after the UK group’s process had been selected by fellow Chinese PP player Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Yanan Energy and Chemical – see Plasteurope.com of 05.09.2011. Ningxia Baofeng Energy said the process would be used to manufacture PP homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers to meet growing Chinese PP demand.
The Chinese group plans to source the olefins necessary to feed the plant from locally sourced coal, using the methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process common in China. Commenting on this latest deal, Ineos Technologies’ CEO Peter Williams said, “Ineos Technologies is proud to serve this growing coal chemicals sector in China and is pleased to be recognised by this industry as a leader in polyolefins technologies.”
