Online tea store Adagio Teas (www.adagio.com) has come up with a new “ingenuiTEA” teapot made of Eastman Chemical’s (Kingsport, Tennessee / USA; www.eastman.com) proprietary “Tritan” copolyester. Adagio says it switched from polycarbonate to “Tritan” because the latter does not contain and bisphenol A (BPA) and is both heat- and chemical-resistant, meaning the ingenuiTEA will not crack, craze or whiten when exposed to dishwasher environments. Thanks to the material’s clarity, consumers can easily determine once the tea has been steeped enough.
The new ingenuiTEA teapot has an innovative filtering system that is activated once the teapot is set atop a cup. The loose tea is separated from the warm water by a removable mesh filter as soon as a valve at the bottom of the teapot is opened, then releasing the tea.
