RECTICEL
Flexible foams plant in North Shields to close by year's end
Before the end of 2011, polyurethane foam specialist Recticel (Brussels / Belgium; www.recticel.com) intends to close its “Carobel” comfort foam converting plant in North Shields / UK. The move is part of group strategy to restructure its flexible foams business, which saw its 2010 sales revenue drop to EUR 603m – see Plasteurope.com of 11.03.2011.
The closure will make redundant 52 employees out of a total of 521 workers engaged in Recticel’s Flexible Foams business unit. The Brussels-based group estimates that total closure costs will reach GBP 200,000, a sum that will be booked in H2 2011.
