Non-halogenated TPEs introduced at Brasilplast 2011
PolyOne GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers (McHenry, Illinois / USA; www.glstpes.com), part of US compounder and distributor PolyOne (Cleveland, Ohio / USA; www.polyone.com), introduced three additions to its “OnFlex” HFFR (non-halogenated flame-retardant) 300 TPE series at “Brasilplast 2011” in São Paulo / Brazil in May – see Plasteurope.com of 10.05.2011.
The company said the new grades offer consumer electronics and appliance OEMs an opportunity to expand market reach in applications requiring flame retardant performance and superior aesthetics without the use of halogens or phthalates. The materials have been developed for injection moulding or extrusion of components including connectors, plugs, grommets, seals, spacers, strain relief sheaths, ribbon cables, jacketing and insulation applications and include grades that meet UL 94 V-0 and UL 94 HB flammability rating. Rick Noller, director of global marketing, PolyOne GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers said: “We have developed these materials to meet the toughest performance and environmental standards for AC and DC power cables and accessories. These new grades will help our customers meet regulatory requirements without sacrificing performance or aesthetics.”
